Explanatory Writing - The Sun

 Explanatory Writing

is a style of writing which asks you to explain

WHAT & HOW…

  • What something is

  • What something does

  • How something works

  • How something happened

  • How to do something

It is not about your opinion, or trying to persuade someone.

It is about the FACTS and INFORMATION

In this case we are looking at THE SUN, and how it affects us here on Earth.

You will be writing 3 PEEL paragraphs, each with its own topic.

What is the sun?

First of all, the Sun is a colossal sphere that is very blinding and hot. For example the Sun is like a gym ball but a lot more BIGGER and the colours are reddish, orange and yellow. This means that The sun stays at the same place and the Sun is bigger than ANYTHING/EVERYTHING! We can therefore see that the Sun is bigger than you could imagine.

How does the Sun’s energy affect life on Earth?

It is quite obvious that the sun actually doesn’t move but the Earth does. Data shows that the Earth takes 365 days (1 years) for the Earth to rotate around the Sun. Because of this the Sun’s energy affects life on Earth. It is clear that the Sun’s energy is VERY powerful that it COULD make you blind.

How does the orbit of the sun create night and day?

I strongly believe that the Sun create night and day by tilting on its axis, (the invisible line which our planet spins) for part of the year one of the hemispheres which is half of the Earth, is leaning towards the sun and the other part of the year it’s leaning away. This is illustrated by Crash course kids. Therefore that is how the orbit of the sun creates night and day. In conclusion you should check out her youtube channel.
