Maui and the sun story

→Everyday in maui’s peaceful and joyful land the sun kept on giving short hours to do the chores and hunt fish but they didn’t get to do those things because the sun was going fast over the sky. Every night around the flaming warm fire Maui’s brothers kept on complaining about the sun only giving them short hours. Until Maui came up with an idea to capture the sun.

He told his brothers to gather people to pick loads of flax. When there was a pile of flax. Maui taught them carefully how to create a gigantic net to capture the sun. when they finished flaxing a net they carefully went to where the sun rises. When they arrived there they hid in a cave surrounded by trees. 

When the sun was about to rise Maui and his brothers surrounded the sun and threw the net on the sun. When they caught the sun they gripped on tight. Maui stepped forward to the sun and looked into the sun’s eyes furiously. The sun was so angry that it was spitting fire and began struggling. Maui got out his magical jaw bone and began hitting the sun. the sun said “what do you want” in a mad voice.

They looked into each other’s eyes deeply and seriously. “Stop giving us short times and give us long hours” Maui said to the sun. Maui whacked the sun again. The sun started to give up and went slowly across the sky. While Maui and his brothers smiled proudly. The village was happy again.
